It's embarrassing really. What did I even do in 2016. Nothing. I'm not even going to include results on my blog goals seeing as I barely blogged. What a joke. Again what was I even doing? Watching TV probably.
So let's look at my 2016 goals and how I did. Spoiler, terribly.
1. Keep My Plants Alive
Well they're mostly outside now as I got myself a kitty. A beautiful ragdoll rescue baby who is the definitely the highlight of Josh and my entire year. She's very affectionate and cuddly and is in fact sitting under the desk right this second. I did keep most of them alive though.
2. Read 12 Books
Younger me would be ashamed of me now. Seriously. I used to read so many books. I would get busted for reading under the table at school. What happened?? Unsure. I read one single book this year. One novel anyway. But how many tv series did I start and finish? Now that's an achievement.
3. Get Outdoors More!
Technically I could be at the beach right now. I have been going more than I have in previous years. Still haven't been that many times. But generally I've been getting outdoors more. I have been going for a run around 3 times a week. You know... outside. Though a lot of my outdoors time is walking to and from work. Which is about 2 minutes away. This was a rather ambiguous goal anyway. So it's a maybe.
4. Live a Bit More than I Work
I will count this as a success. I quit one of my jobs! I have a lot more free time and a lot less cash. But emotionally and mentally I feel better, I feel healthier. I still have the occasional burst of anxiety, but nowhere near what it used to be. I used to cry a lot due to stress. It wasn't that either of my jobs required that much effort, but I would take worries home with me. Sometimes I would stress about going in, and I was at work more than I was ever at home, and it didn't matter what time of year it was. Best decision I've made of 2016. Second to adopting Coco.
5. Finish All the Playstation Games I Own, Before Buying More
Yes! The only exception was buying and playing Skyrim on PS4 and then buying and playing Final Fantasy XV before I finished Skyrim. My excuse? I played and finished Skyrim on PS3. I bought it again on PS4 because it's probably my favourite game. Hmm second to The Witcher, which I sadly did complete all of this year.
Overall? I set pretty weird resolutions for myself. I suppose it doesn't matter if you make it a resolution, unless you want to complete it you just won't. Something I will take with me into making my 2017 New Years Resolutions.
Which I will be posting closer to New Years day!
Do you remember any resolutions you made for 2016 and did you complete any? Let me know in the comments!

Oh that is so interesting to read! You definitely need to get back into reading - 1 book in a year. WOW! :D I feel like I need to reflect on my 2015 resolutions too. Great idea.

A pretty decent set of resolutions, definitely doable. Though I couldn't stick with the last one in terms of computer games (and definitely not in terms of books i buy 3x more than I read)

Your kitty is the cutest <3
ReplyDeleteThey're still an accomplishment! I can't even keep a plant alive. I wanna play PS4 games but I don't have that console lol.

Oh I know what you mean! My goal in 2016 was to blog A LOT more - I look through my archives and I was really disappointed in myself! But it sounds like you made some awesome progress

I think you still had a few victories there! Especially if you are felling better and healthier overall. I didn't set any resolutions last year, but I want to do some for 2017, I just tend to write them poorly and the ambiguous wording allows me to weasel my way out of them! (completely my own fault)

I didn't make any resolutions for 2016 as I already knew that I won't be able to cross them off lol. But I do have 2017 resolutions, though! Just published it on my blog x

As long as they are resolutions you'll hopefully stick to, I think they should be as weird as you want! One of mine was to get things out before I let them bottle up too much, and to an extent I did that, so I'm happy with myself!

God I am so bad at keeping up with my New Year's Resolutions, and so this year I am doing none! I am tired of trying to keep promises that I know beforehand that they are impossible to keep (drink more water, be fit, work less etc. included). This year I will just be happy if I graduate from my phd and buy a house. A step at a time!
ReplyDeleteAnd let's hope 2017 will be a brilliant year for everyone!

I actually have no clue what my goals for this year were now that I think about it... Oh well. I'm glad to hear that you're came true! Happy new year!

To be honest my goals for 2016 were not particularly focused or specific, so I can see why I didn't stick to them! I did achieve a few things I was proud of in 2016 but none were set as new year resolutions funnily enough! Transitioning to a plant based lifestyle has been the biggest challenge but also the biggest achievement for me.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your 2017 Goals soon! :)

I can definitely relate to number 2! I used to read so much when I was in school and now it takes me forever to finish a book. I think I read 12 books this year, one paperback and the rest on my phone. Young me would be so disappointed, I used to read a book a day.
ReplyDeleteI posted an update on my 2016 goals this week!
