The cold weather this year hit me like a ton of bricks. If those bricks had acne bringing properties.
My face, neck and back have broken out like you wouldn't believe. As someone who generally only gets a spot here or there, it was pretty distressing to suddenly be covered in pimples.
I have a pretty laid back approach to skincare generally, as I'm still young and my skin is still pretty good. I also get a lot of random skincare products as an Instagrammer. While that sounds good, it mostly means that I'm constantly putting different products on my skin, without much knowledge of what each will do.
So I was incredibly glad and excited when Laser Clinics Kotara wanted to invite me into their clinic and give me a skin consultation and basically overhaul my entire skincare routine.
I was already a big fan of Laser Clinics Kotara due to their amazing laser hair removal service. Which honestly requires it's very own blog post due to how life-changing it is.
The Consultation
The first thing I did as soon as I arrived at LCK was check in and receive a form to fill out. The form gets me to tick off any skin concerns I might have, what I'm currently doing to my skin and any treatments I've had in the past. It also goes through lifestyle questions that ultimately can affect my skin as well. This is so my beauty therapist can get a better idea of my skin type and know exactly how to help me.
Once the appointment begins, my therapist asked me a lot of different questions and overall clarified things that I've written down. She definitely gets the gist that I'm a bit flakey when it comes to a regular skin care routine, but that I'm keen for that to change!
Laser Clinics Kotara has its very own skincare brand that is all vegan-friendly and made in Australia called Skinstitut. The active ingredients in each product mean that you are actually having an effect on your skin, not just wasting time with useless ineffective products.
Check out this online Skinstitut consultation to get a better idea of what products might work for you!
My LCK therapist went through a Skinstitut catalogue with me and addressed each product that she would recommend. Then she filled out a guide book with all the products that we had chosen and wrote down how to use them as well as how often I need to. Including whether or not I need to use them morning and night or every day etc.
LCK utilises a 5 a-day programme when it comes to your skincare routine. So that in 5 simple stages you can ensure radiant skin.
I will do another post on all the products that I have received, as it's a bit too overwhelming to have all in one blog post!
LED Light Therapy
To finish off my first appointment I received a round of LED Light therapy using the yellow light.
The Yellow Light LED Therapy is good for:
- Wound healing
- Skin rejuvenation
Yellow LED Light Therapy is the deepest penetrating medical grade treatment that is offered at LCK. LED targets the light receptors on our cells which then converts the light into energy. The cells are then fuelled with all the energy that they need to be able to function at optimal ability.
The LED Light also triggers the lymphatic system, improving the removal of toxins from the treated area. Yellow Light Therapy is used to increase wound healing, collagen induction, skin hydration and the overall health of the skin. Each treatment lasts 13 minutes.
It felt like I was laying under a nice warm sun at the beach, and the 13 minutes went really quickly.
I'm so excited to get stuck into my new skincare routine! I have another appointment early next month where I'm trying out a new treatment called Kleresca. Keep an eye on my Instagram and stories for when my new blog post is out about the Skinstitut products that are part of my routine.
As always DM me via Instagram with any questions!
